The entire Advanced Eyecare staff take the sincerest pleasure in taking part in your family's eye care needs. We are dedicated to providing the best care possible and helping our patients make the right decisions about their eyewear without pressuring them into purchasing unnecessary options.

We realize you have a choice in your eye care provider, and want to thank you for allowing us to meet your optical needs.

Meet The Doctors

Dr. David Cole and Dr. Diane Papke are Optometrists serving Eldridge, IA and surrounding communities. They enjoy caring for the patients at Advanced Eyecare and look forward to the one-on-one interaction involved with solving eye health and vision problems.

David Cole, O.D.

Dr. David CodeDr. Cole is a native of New Providence, New Jersey. He received his Bachelor’s degree in biology from Fairleigh Dickinson University, Madison, N.J. He went on to earn his Bachelors of Visual Science and Doctorate of Optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry.

In 1980 he and his spouse, Dr. Papke, began practicing in the Fahrenkrog Building, Eldridge. The practice now known as Advanced Eyecare was moved to its current location in 1991. Dr. Cole is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Iowa Optometric Association, North Scott Chamber of Commerce and the Mississippi Valley Optometric Society. Along with practicing general optometry, he has particular interests in anterior segment disease and contact lenses.

“Since opening our doors here in Eldridge in 1980, the scope of optometry has changed from an optical model to a primary care/medical model. Instrumentation and technology has allowed us to detect ocular disease much earlier. As a result, the overall quality of patient care has improved.”

Outside of work he loves to play golf and spend time with family and friends. He is the proud father of daughter Lauren Goodman and son Evan.

Diane L. Papke, O.D.

Diane L. Papke, O.DDr. Diane Papke received her Doctorate of Optometry degree in 1979 from the Illinois College of Optometry after completing undergraduate studies at Iowa State University. Dr. Papke, a native of Miles, Iowa, attained a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Sciences from ICO. Before opening an optometric practice with her partner/spouse in Eldridge in 1980, Dr. Papke had previously worked in Maquoketa and Clinton. At the time, she broke the gender gap by being one of the earliest female optometrists in the state of Iowa.

Along with practicing general optometry, her specific interests are contact lenses and children’s vision. She enjoys building life long relationships with patients and their families. “It’s the family type environment we strive to create that has enabled us to provide long relationships with our patients and their eye care needs. In fact, it is not unusual or difficult to find four generations of family members being seen at our office.”

Dr. Papke’s professional affiliations include the American Optometric Association, the Iowa Optometric Association, the Mississippi Valley Optometric Society and the North Scott Chamber of Commerce. She’s also been involved with the Scott County Library Association, Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization, past council member of Faith Lutheran Church, a volunteer at University of Iowa Golf Events and a volunteer for the American Heart Association.

Outside of work, Dr. Papke enjoys spending time with friends and family and playing piano. She also enjoys physical activities—especially golf and swimming. She is the proud mother of two children—Lauren and Evan.
